Working with Dalits in India
Supporting indigenous communities in Guatemala

MRDF works with Dalit communities in India (left); indigenous groups in Guatemala (centre); and with women and children in Niger (right).

MRDF makes small miracles possible for the world's poorest communities by supporting long-term, sustainable development in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The countries and communities in which MRDF works are selected after careful consideration of a number of factors.

MRDF has five regional programmes: East Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa, Asia and Latin America. It is important that the areas where the partners work are accessible for visits by MRDF Programme Officers.

MRDF also assesses the needs and the stability of countries, considering their ranking on the UN's Human Development Index and the current political and economic contexts, prioritising areas of greatest need. However, MRDF also works in countries with fast growing economies such as India, targeting pockets of poverty and marginalised people, like Dalit communities in southern India.

MRDF also works to make small miracles possible through:

Responding to emergencies throughout the world

Campaigning against the root causes of poverty
