Gaza appeal

As the fighting in the Gaza Strip subsides, MRDF is supporting an appeal that will provide aid supplies and long-term support to some of those affected.

Tens of thousands of people have been displaced and injured in Gaza since the three-week war began in December. According to the United Nations, two-thirds of Gaza's 1.5 million residents were left without power and 500,000 without running water and access to medical facilities.

Through ACT (Action by Churches Together) International, MRDF will help to provide vital support to thousands of people.

This includes counselling for those who have been traumatised by the war, particularly children suffering from symptoms of post-traumatic stress. Donations to MRDF's appeal will also enable the distribution of water and milk powder to vulnerable mothers and their children, as tap water is not safe to drink.

Although there are still challenges getting aid into Gaza, ACT has been able to channel emergency supplies into the area.

MRDF Director Kirsty Smith said: ‘The crisis in Gaza has devastated thousands of lives. By supporting this appeal we want to bring a sense of hope and recovery to some of those affected.'
